Diamonds made from ashes or hair are GIA certified to be genuine diamonds.

The only difference between natural diamonds and LONITÉ memorial diamonds is their origin: carbon atoms of memorial diamonds are from cremated human ashes and remains instead of minerals underground.

LONITÉ's Memorial Diamonds

From light yellow (left) to deep orange (right), each memorial diamond has a natural colour. No two are alike, reflecting the natural differences in the ashes used to make the diamonds and showing how unique your beloved one is.

Naturally Grown Memorial Diamonds.

Truly Unique.

After the hair and cremation ashes are purified, an essential step in the process of turning your loved one's ashes into memorial diamonds in UK, the purified carbon is placed in the synthesis environment. This precisely controlled chamber is essential in the process by recreating the natural conditions for diamond growth.

No two diamonds are alike during ashes to memorial diamonds transformation. The final shape, size and colour of the memorial diamonds depend on its origin.

Each memorial diamond is naturally grown and truly unique. The synthesis environment only gives a range for the size of diamonds out of ashes. Exact dimensions can neither be controlled nor predicted.

Undecided - to Keep a Maximum

On the order form, you may leave the cut option blank. The cut of your memorial diamonds will be decided by our expert according to its final shape.

You don’t choose the shape. During the process to make your cremation diamond, the diamond itself will choose the shape.

No two diamond shapes are alike. Experts will cut your memorial diamond based on the shape your memorial diamond grew into. The cut they decide on will preserve the most diamond material possible.

Colour Styles

5 × Colours

Natural diamonds are born with an array of colours, due to the diverse underground environments.

Similarly, below 5 colours are achieved in varied synthesis environments during memorial diamonds' growth.

Growing Environments

Naturally Amber™ Diamonds

Human body contains 3% nitrogen [N], which gives the diamond a Naturally Amber™ colour.

Naturally Amber™ is the natural colour achieved under standard procedures to turn your loved one's ashes into diamonds in UK.

Each memorial diamond has a natural colour (From light yellow to deep orange). No two are alike.

Purely Colourless™ Diamonds

Purely Colourless™ diamonds are created by removing nitrogen [N] from the carbon [C].

They have the highest carbon purity but also the highest price and longest creation time.

Other colours

Apart from above two featured colours, other colours of memorial diamonds are achieved by creating different physical or chemical environments as described below.

GIA logo

HPHT stands for high-pressure, high-temperature. The process is an effective tool for changing the colour of certain diamonds, making them colourless, pink, blue, green, goldish green, or gold.

I. Maximised Use of Ashes / Hair.

Up to 99.99%.

It would be technically incorrect to say that “a diamond is made 100% from ashes”✘.

While turning your loved one's ashes to diamond, a microscopic diamond is required as the seed crystal, from which the new memorial diamond will evolve.

However, LONITÉ is able to produce memorial diamonds that comprise up to 99.99% carbon from human ashes or hair.

image of a natural leaf

II. Natural Diamond Seed.

No CVDs.

A diamond seed is the microscopic diamond required as the foundation from which the new memorial diamond will evolve (the seed crystal). Carbon atoms (from ashes/hair) attach themselves to the seed, under immense pressure, and begin to crystallise.

For the diamond seed, LONITÉ only ever uses single-crystal natural diamonds from the top 0.1% of quality natural diamonds instead of CVD (Chemical Vapour Deposition) diamonds.

III. Type IIb:

the Top 0.1%.

LONITÉ Blue and Purely Colourless™ diamonds made out of ashes distinguish themselves as type IIb diamonds.

When examined with an infrared spectrometer, these memorial diamonds show remarkable absorption on the red side of the visible spectrum.

LONITÉ type IIb diamonds from ashes are visually indistinguishable from the rarest and most valuable 0.1% of all natural diamonds, but with an extremely unique origin - from your loved one.

IV. No Heavy Metals (0.00%).

100% Safe.

LONITÉ memorial diamonds are free of lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), bismuth (Bi) and sodium bromide (NaBr).

LONITÉ uses natural and medically-safe agents in the process of cleaning and preparing ashes to be turned into diamonds for the best interest of our UK clients.

No heavy metals (0.00%) are adopted in LONITÉ's process.

V. No Artificial Colourings (0.00%).

Natural Colours.

LONITÉ creates coloured diamonds by giving them the environment to grow, instead of mixing any artificial colourings in the diamonds from ashes.

The synthesis environment only gives a colour range. The final colour depends on the ashes of your loved one used to create the diamond you want in UK.

Each diamond has a unique colour naturally. No two memorial diamonds are alike.

image showing 4N purity

VI. 4N Purity.

The Essential 99.99%

Impurity leads to memorial diamond flaws. It can bring inclusions in the diamond made from ashes.

High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) diamond synthesis can only be effectively achieved with the purest forms of carbon. All other trace elements must be removed.

Carbon is the basic life element. LONITÉ memorial diamonds contains at least 99.99% purity of carbon.

image showing 4N purity
image showing life element
image showing life element

VII. 18% and 3% of Human Body.

Positive Life Elements.

Carbon [C] accounts for 18% of the human body; nitrogen [N] accounts for 3%. Both are essential for proteins (with amino acids) and DNA. Without carbon [C] and nitrogen [N], life would not exist.

The carbon purification system can leave either nitrogen or boron (related with metabolism of calcium) within the growing foundation, leading to an amber or blue colour.

Keeping carbon and removing all other elements will create a Purely Colourless™ memorial diamond.

image showing GIA certification of LONITÉ memorial diamond

✔ LONITÉ is a GIA Certified Genuine Diamond.

A LONITÉ memorial diamond is physically, chemically and optically the same as a natural mined diamond.

LONITÉ's genuine diamonds from ashes possess a refractive index of 2.419, which is the same as all other natural mined diamonds.

✘ NOT a Diamond Simulant: Gem, Crystal, nor Zircons.

A "Diamond Simulant" is a fake diamond that is not made with carbon. Zircon (ZrSiO4) is one which is mass-produced for costume jewellery and clothes accessorising.

A fake diamond has a refractive index higher or lower than 2.419, which makes the brilliance and brightness very different to a genuine diamond.

image showing the technology of High Temperature High Pressure technology used in turning ashes into memorial diamonds for UK clients

✔ LONITÉ IS an HPHT Diamond.
(High-Pressure High-Temperature)

The carbon source of LONITÉ's HPHT diamonds is pure carbon powder from ashes (in a solid state).

The High-Pressure-High-Temperature process is based on the same principles of how natural diamonds are created, taking several months.

✘ NOT a CVD Diamond
(Chemical Vapour Deposition)

The carbon source of CVD diamonds is a hydrocarbon gas such as methane.

The ongoing process takes only several hours, but consumes many, many cubic meters of additive gas to provide the necessary carbon.

Ashes to diamonds refered to a new diamond made out of ashes

✔ LONITÉ IS a new-born diamond transformed from ashes.

Your memorial diamond is a new diamond grown from carbon gleaned from the ashes and hair of your loved one.

The essential diamond seed accounts only for 0.01%. 99.99% of the diamond are grown from life elements in the hair or cremation ashes.

✘ NOT an existing diamond injected with ashes into a hole.

Some "memorial diamonds" are nothing more than an existing diamond, drilled to enable a tiny amount of cremation ashes to be inserted.

Heavy metals like lead (Pb) and bismuth (Bi) are used in that "memorial diamonds" process.
